Hoàng Mai
Hoang Mai is an urban district of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam.
Headquarter of District People’s Committee: Den Lu, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Hoang Mai district is established basing on the total natural areas and population of following communes: Dinh Cong, Dai Kim, Hoang Liet, Thanh Tri, Vinh Tuy, Linh Nam, Tran Phu, Yen So and 55 ha of natural areas of Tu Hiep commune, Thanh Tri district and total natural areas and population of the following precincts: Mai Dong, Tuong Mai, Giap Bat, Hoang Van Thu which belongs to Hai Ba Trung district.
The establishment of Hoang Mai district is in Hanoi’s planning until 2020 which was approved by Prime Minister. The system of local government was established and officially came into operation since January 1st 2004.
Hoang Mai district is located in the South-East of Hanoi in the total area of 4,104.1 km2 and a population of 329,000 people (2009)
Hoang Mai district is bordered by Thanh Tri district to the West and South, Gia Lam district to the East, Thanh Xuan and Hai Ba Trung districts to the North.
Hoang Mai district has a waterway transport system in Red River. There are some important roads crossing the district such as: 1A National Road, 1B National Road, Belt-Road No.3, Thanh Tri bridge and Belt-Road 2.5
Hoang Mai district has many villages famous for cuisines such as pancakes in Thanh Tri, liquor in Hoang Mai, fresh noodle (bún) in Tu Ky and Mo bean curd in Mai Dong.
Hoang Mai is a district which has increasing urbanization speed with some famous high-rise condominiums such as: Dinh Cong, Den Lu and Linh Dam.
